Abstract
1,103,998. Springs. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. 10 May, 1966 [11 May, 1965], No. 20701/66. Heading F2S. In a leaf-spring hanger arrangement wherein a shackle 3, having an eye 5 of a stack of leafsprings with a bush 9 mounted on a pin 4 keyed at 12 to it, has an eye pivotally mounted with a bush 6 to a pin 6 keyed at 12 to a shackle 1 attached to a fixed part of a vehicle, (not shown), in order to compensate for lateral play, a hard metal washer 9 is inserted between each end of each bush 6 or 7 and the adjacent arms of the shackle 1 or 3, an elastic sealing ring 10 being mounted round each washer 9. The washers 9 are preferably of hardened steel and the sealing rings 10 are preferably of rubber. Each sealing ring 10, which may have a circumferential groove in its outer periphery, may be held by corrugations, or serrations, around its associated washer 9, or it may be glued, vulcanized, or force-fitted, to the respective washer. Alternatively, each sealing ring may be secured to a separate carrier ring (12), Fig. 4, (not shown), which may be pushed or shrunk on to the corresponding washer.
