Abstract
110,235. Bingham, H. C. Nov. 23, 1916. Shoots.-A gas filtering apparatus is provided with a discharge outlet for the granular filtering material having mounted therein a ram C operated by a screw G so as to be moved across the opening to bind the material against the side of the outlet. A plate E is arranged to close the outlet below the ram so that by successive closing and opening of the ram and the plate, a certain quantity of material may be discharged from the filter. An arrangement of 4 jointed bars enclosing an area which is reduced in dimensions by motion of the bars may be employed to bind the material instead of the ram.
