Abstract

1,101,052. Pneumatic conveyers. HALMATIC Ltd. 3 Feb., 1965 [3 Feb., 1964], No. 4566/64. Heading B8A. In a pneumatic conveying system a gas permeable tube 10, Fig. 1, of microporous material is arranged within an outer pipe 9 so that fluidizing air or gas may be supplied to the conveyed material which may be inside or outside the tube 10. Microporous polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl-chloride or sintered metal or ceramics may be used for the tube 10. A covering of impermeable material 21, Fig. 4a, may be applied in a series of separate cylinders, a helical coil or perforated tube to provide for fluidizing over selected regions only. Alternatively a coating of flexible synthetic resin may be applied over desired regions. A conveyer system is described in which the material is fed to a plurality of separators arranged along the pipeline and air or gas for both the pipes 9 and 10 is supplied from a single source.
