A double trap siphonic water closet has a vent passage 11 extending from a chamber 9 between the traps 4, 5 thereof from a position above the static water level in the upstream limb of trap 5 to a like position in the downstream limb thereof. The passage 11 is formed by one side wall of the trap 5 and part of the wall 10. It could be formed by a pipe interconnecting the two limbs of the trap 5.
