Abstract

1,099,514. Spray-producers. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Aug. 3, 1965 [Aug. 6, 1964], No. 33155/65. Heading B2F. [Also in Divisions D1 and F1] A spray device for a smoothing iron comprises a whirling body 19 for producing a spray jet and a return valve 22 incorporated in a cartridge 17 removably mounted in a housing formed by a spray nozzle 16 and a nipple 14 mounted in the front wall of the iron. A duct 3 connects the main reservoir of the iron through a ball valve 4 to a bellows-shaped spraying container 6 mounted in the iron handle 1 and biassed, to its expanded position by spring 11. Container 6 is squeezed by a a push button 12 to expel water through valve 22 and when released draws, water in through valve 4. The water passes through valve 22 into cartridge 17 and through grooves 24,25 in body 19 to pass out of opening 18 as a spray. Sleeve 17 may be of metal and nozzle 16 and body 19 may be of polytetrafluorethylene, fluoride rubbers, refractory synthetic rubbers, polypropylene and derivatives, polystyrene and derivatives and silicon resins. Epoxy resins and buton resins may be used for lining the surfaces of nozzle 16 and body 19.
