Abstract
1,098,858. S.C.R. switching circuits. SEV. CON ENGINEERING Ltd. July 27, 1966 [July 16, 1965], No. 30292/65. Heading H3T. [Also in Division H2] A silicon controlled rectifier feeding a load is associated with two further S.C.R's. respectively for charging and discharging a commutating capacitor for the first mentioned S.C.R. and further capacitors are provided for commutating the further S.C.R's. When an ON pulse is received the inductive load L is energized through SCR1 and the commutating capacitor C1 is charged through SCR3 and SCR1. When an OFF pulse is received SCR2 is fired and extinguishes SCR1. In addition, SCR3 which has meanwhile been maintained conducting by the leakage current of the capacitor is extinguished by the action of capacitors C2 and C3. The power in the load may be varied by varying the duty cycle or the frequency of the conduction of SCR1.
