109,854. Kershaw & Co., H., and Heath, J. H. Oct. 9, 1916. Locking nuts.-A washer for locking a nut 3 is provided on one face with two or more projecting tongues 1, 2,. which engage the sides of the nut, and the other side is provided with a continuous circular rib 5 of truncated conical formation the under surface of which is slightly inclined. When the nut is screwed down, the washer A is flattened and the edge 6 grips and distorts the bolt thread to form a continuous groove round the bolt. To unscrew the nut, the clips 1, 2 are forced back by a chisel. The washer is removed by slightly tilting the washer to engage the bolt thread by means of a chisel. The washer is made by press tools from a sheet-metal blank.
