Abstract

1,097,893. Upholstery covers. PARSLOW FURNITURE Ltd. Sept. 30, 1966, No. 43720/66. Heading A4M. A preformed cover (6) is slidably fitted over an upholstered base member such as a part of a chair, a headboard for a bed, or a part used in trimming vehicles, and an intermediate smooth layer is disposed between the cover and the base member to reduce frictional opposition to the fitting. In one embodiment (Fig. 1) the intermediate layer comprises a polyethylene envelope (4) fitted over a chair back (2). Alternatively (Fig. 2), polyethylene sheeting (11, 12) covers the sides (18, 19) of the seat back (9) and is secured by adhesive tape (14, 15). A further alternative (Fig. 3) comprises an adhesive plastics tape (22) applied to the sides (24, 25) and top (23) of the seat back (20). The intermediate layer may be perforated. In a modification, the intermediate layer comprises thermoplastics material sprayed on to the cover and/or base member.
