Abstract
1,097,222. Scaffold clamps. J. M. MARLEY. May 26, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964; March 25, 1964], Nos. 8129/64 and 12552/64. Heading E2B. A scaffold coupling comprises a tubular body 10 formed at one end with a first pair of aligned tube receiving recesses 12 and at the opposite end with a second pair of aligned tube receiving recesses, and means 13 pivoted to the body for clamping first and second tubes 11 in said pairs of recesses respectively, with the axes of said tubes extending in mutually transverse directions. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the tubular body 10 has square cross-section. each side having an indentation 10a to engage the tube. The sides of the body also have slots 10b for receiving the ends of clamping means 13. Such means comprises a cover 13 and a bolt 14, the cover and/or bolt having a cranked end portion 15 extending through the slot. The other end of the cover 13 and/or bolt is channel shaped with an open ended slot 17 to receive the bolt 14. Various other ways of pivoting the bolt and cover are described which are claimed in Specification 1,097,225. An embodiment in which the tubular body is of cruciform cross-section is also shown (Fig. 6. not shown), the cover being pivoted by tabs 315 engaging in holes 316.
