Means for detachably securing a leg 22 to a table top 20 comprises right-angled plates 12, 13 having apertures 19 for bolts which also pass through the table leg, a top plate 14, apertured for securing screws 21, being welded to the plate 13. In modifications the edges of the plate 14 are flush with the angle plates, the angle plate 12 is in two separate flat sections, or the angle plates are replaced by semi-cylindrical plates. The leg may be recessed to receive the plates and in a further modification a side of a chair seat frame is extended to form with the adjacent side one of the angle plates.
