Abstract

<PICT:1095826/C6-C7/1> <PICT:1095826/C6-C7/2> <PICT:1095826/C6-C7/3> A bridge-type machine for rolling leather, Figs. 1 and 2, comprises a frame 1 and a horizontally reciprocating carriage 2 provided with a roller 8 mounted, above a horizontal rolling table, in vertically displaceable bearings 3 and 4 carrying abutments 12 and 13 for actuating limit switches 15 and 16, which are included in an electric control circuit, Fig. 3, alternately to charge-over the current supply or phase in front of or behind relays 24 and 28, and bring about reversal of the carriage 2 only when the roller 8 leaves the leather being rolled, movement of the carriage being allowed to continue when the roller 8 again encounters the leather. The electric circuit is energized by closing a switch 38. The relays 24 and 28 are connected, through condensers or resistors 25 and 29, with the neutral or earthed conductor of the circuit to prevent short-circuiting and prepare the relays for action. A cylinder 5 is secured to the carriage 2, and a piston 6, in this cylinder, is immovably secured to the frame 1 by rods extending from each face of the piston. Pressurized oil is fed, through a slide-valve 35, into alternate ends of the cylinder 5 to reciprocate the carriage 2, the pressurized oil being supplied to the slide-valve 35 in the direction indicated by the arrow 34. The slide-valve 35 is actuated by pressurized oil passing through another slide-valve 36, controlled by electromagnets 31 and 32, themselves controlled by the relays 28 and 24. Pressurized oil is supplied to the slide-valve 36 through a throttle valve 37. When there is no leather in the machine, limit switches 10 and 11, adjustably mounted on a rod 9 secured to the frame 1, are actuated, by an abutment 7 on the carriage 2, to reverse the carriage. Press-button switches 14 and 17 may be actuated to bring about independent reversal of the carriage. A press-button switch 21 may be closed, to prevent reversal of the carriage, if the roller 8 drops temporarily, e.g. into a gap between two pieces of leather being rolled.
