Abstract
1,094,894. Filing; abrading. G. DAVIES and H. WERTHEIMER. July 15, 1964 [July 16, 1963], No. 28156/63. Addition to 855,436. Headings B3D and B3L. [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] An abrasive belt 12 comprises parallel elongated hard metal members 11 having an abrading or polishing surface and mounted transversely on a flexible backing. The abrading members may alternate with members with plain surfaces. The abrading members may be notched wires or have sintered carbide surfaces. The belt may be made of coils of twine wound on a drum and united by adhesive. Some of the abrading edges may be left-handed and some right-handed and some may face in one direction and some another so that in one belt, Fig. 1A, there is no tendency for the belt to be moved transversely and in the other belt, Fig. 1B, cutting can take place in either direction of movement. A tool (21) for hand use can have a coarse and a fine abrading surface and rubber pads (24) to engage the hands.
