Abstract

Soil is treated with one of the following compounds capable of inhibiting the hydrolysis of urea in soil: zinc, manganese, or disodium ethylene - bis - dithiocarbamate, ammonium-N - p - chlorphenyl - dithiocarbamate, S-trichloromethyl - thio - dithiocarbamate, or methyl - N - acetamido - dithiocarbamate; or N-methyl-, N-ethyl-, N-n-propyl-, or N-n-butyl - dichloromaleimide. The compound is added before or after or together with urea. The soil may also be treated with 1,1,2,2-tetrachloro - 1,2 - dibromoethane or hexabromoethane.
