Abstract

Ribonucleoside - 51 - phosphates or salts thereof are prepared by reacting the corresponding ribonucleoside with metaboric acid or a salt thereof, in an organic solvent, to form the borate complex, phosphorylating, and contacting the resulting phosphorylated product with water which may contain alkali and may be mixed with an organic solvent. Specified phosphorylating agents are diphenyl- and dibenzylphosphoryl chlorides, O - benzylphosphorous-O,O - diphenylphosphoric acid anhydride, tetra - p - nitrophenylpyrophosphoric acid anhydride, pyrophosphoryl chlorides, and a mixture of POCl3 and water.
