Abstract
1,093,849. Up-and-over doors. CARDALE DOORS Ltd. Nov. 1, 1966 [Dec. 23, 1965], No. 54568/65. Heading E2M. An up-and-over door as illustrated with reference to the drawing, has a door operating mechanism comprising a vertically disposed guide channel or track 3 secured to or forming part of a door jamb 4, a single guide roller 5 mounted on the door and arranged to run in said guide channel, a door support arm 8 pivotally connected at one of its ends (e.g. via bracket 10) to the door and at. its other end to said door jamb or a part fixed thereto (e.g. bracket 3a), and counter balancing means 12 comprising a spring biased cable 14 windable around or onto a pulley 13 rotatably mounted on said door jamb, said cable being attatched at one of its ends to the spring biasing means and at its other end to the door (e.g. at bracket 7 or spindle 6), the arrangement being such that tension of the spring is varied during movement of the door between its open and closed positions to balance the weight of the door in any position.
