Abstract
1,092,365. Drafting apparatus. ZINSER TEXTILMASCHINEN G.m.b.H. Nov. 19, 1964 [Nov. 19, 1963], No. 47112/64. Heading D1D. Drafting apparatus comprises three groups of rollers in series, comprising, considered as regards the direction in which the sliver travels, a first group consisting of an upper roller 2 and a lower roller I, and second third groups each consisting of two upper rollers and one lower roller (4, 5 and 3, and 7, 8 and 6 respectively); in each group, the upper rollers are of a diameter which is equal to or smaller than that of the associated lower roller, and the arrangement of the groups is such that the first nip in each group receives, along its common tangent, the sliver from the nip which precedes it. The rollers 5, 7 are each adjustable around the periphery of the lower roller, being mounted in a U-shaped guide 10, Fig. 4, pivotable about the axis of the lower roller and which can be locked in the adjusted position by a screw 12. By this arrangement the upper rollers are free to move radially of the corresponding lower roller, and can be adjusted to suit required drafting conditions and to preserve the tangential travel of the sliver between them. The rollers 4, 5 may be carried by a common frame 13, Fig. 5, having a journal 14 in a U-shaped guide 15 carried by the lower roller, the frame being movable radially of the lower roller.
