Abstract

1,092,275. Window stays. CODE DESIGNS Ltd. Sept. 22, 1965 [June 24, 1964], No. 26094/64. Heading E2F. A window stay is held by friction by a rotatable block 11 of nylon, P.V.C. or polystyrene in which the stay 1 is a tight sliding fit. In a modification, the block has a slot in one side and a screw is provided across the slot so that the frictional grip on the stay can be adjusted to take up wear. A recess 13 in the block accommodates a spacer on a pivot 7 when the window is fully closed. By releasing a screw 20 a handknob 19 may be removed so that the window can be opened to its fullest extend. In a modification, a neck beneath the knob is turned to line-up with a slot in the block 11 and so pass therethrough without removing the handknob.
