Abstract

1,091,855. Shovel excavators. EXKAVATORNY ZAVOD IM. KOMINTERNA. April 27, 1965, No. 17632/65. Heading E1F. In a face shovel excavator having a two part jib comprising an inner part rigidly secured to the frame of the excavator and an outer part pivoted on the outer end of the inner part, the hoist rope for the shovel carrying arm mounted by a saddle on the jib about the pivotal axis of the parts thereof passes from the arm about a pulley on the outer end of the outer part and then under a pulley on the lower part of the jib to a winch on the frame. This arrangement minimises the tendency for upward pivoting of the outer part of jib when the arm is close to the jib.
