Abstract
In a process for chromium plating the electrolyte contains finely powdered carbon, e.g. graphite. The carbon may be present in a quantity of 0.1 to 500 grams/litre, the particles having an average diameter of less than 10 microns. The electrolyte may comprise chromic acid and sulphuric acid, and may also contain potassium and/or sodium silicofluoride. During eletrolysis the bath may be agitated to maintain the carbon in suspension. The anode may comprise antimonial lead or tin lead.
