108,866. Johansen, A. Aug. 17, 1917. Marline-spikes. - Relates to marline-spikes which are oval in cross-section. To prevent the spike from falling out of the rope if the grip of the hand be released it is formed with cross recesses at 4, 5 on one side and 6 on the other side, which engage the wire strands. There may be one, two, or more sets of recesses to facilitate the use of the spike in connexion with ropes of different thicknesses.
