Abstract
An autoclave or reaction vessel for liquid has a vertical shaft carrying flat, knife-like stirrer blades which are without pitch. The ends of the blades have a clearance of 1-30 mm from the vessel wall; they are spaced apart not more than 120 mm and are rotated at a peripheral speed of not less than 8 metres/sec., whereby the formation of incrustations on the vessel wall is prevented. The vessel wall is cooled.
