1,086,318. Evaporating liquids. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Oct. 9, 1964 [Oct. 9, 1963]. No. 41351/64. Heading B1B. The evaporation of liquid from radio-active solutions is carried out on thin, elastically deformable membranes 60 which are arranged one on each of a plurality of receptacles 42 with concave surfaces provided around a rotatable plate 32, each membrane being applied to its receptacle and taking on a concave form by a vacuum being formed between the surface and the membrane. A casing 54 covers most of the plate, the deformed membrane, being filled with the solution to be evaporated by a distributing device when it is not under the cover and the plate then being rotated to pass the membrane under the cover where a current of air f, brought about by a suction pump joined at 66, is passed over it to effect evaporation. Each membrane is stretched on a frame formed by two rings 62, 64. A connection is established between a vacuum pump and each receptacle by means of a nozzle 24, a passage 22, a bore 8 in a central fixed shaft 6, a compartment 36, a nozzle 48, a conduit 50, and a bore 52 in the receptacle. Adjustable legs 4 ensure the vertically of the shaft 6. The plate 32 is supported for rotatable movement about the shaft on a roller bearing 28.
