Abstract

1,085,277. Hose end fitting. BTR INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 4, 1965 [Feb. 20, 1964], No. 7197/64. Heading F2G. A hose end fitting for a reinforced flexible tube comprises a nipple for insertion into the end of the tube and provided with an annular groove which is deeper than it is wide, on its outer surface and a ferrule or clip around the tube, the tube being gripped between the ferrule or clip and the nipple to produce an internal annular rib which co-operates with a radial wall of the groove to produce an annular lip seal. Leakage of fluid between the tube and the nipple allows fluid pressure to force one face of the annular rib into fluid-tight contact with a wall of the groove. A bared end of the reinforcement may be gripped between the nipple and a swaged ferrule by means of a co-operating ridge 2 and groove 10.
