Abstract
1,085,029. Knitting-machines. SOLIS SOCIETA A RESPONSABILIT'A LIMITATA. Dec. 15, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 50939/64. Heading D1C. A double cylinder knitting machine has a take up mechanism comprising two sets of vertically reciprocable elements 75, 79 which alternately engage the fabric to take it up in a vertical direction. The sets of elements 75, 79 are mounted in two axially movable cylinders 69, 73 one of which is fastened to a rod 41 and the other to a tube 39 concentric with the rod. The rod 41 and tube 39 are normally upwardly urged by springs can be individually moved downwards by cams (not shown). They are arranged to be moved down at different times during the rotation of the needle cylinders and they and the moveable cylinders 69, 73 rotate with the needle cylinders. They are also arranged so that at least one is always in the raised position so that the knitted fabric is always under tension. The fabric tensioning elements 75, 79 are held radially outwardly by the action of springs 77, 81 respectively and have serrated edges 75b, 79b which engage the fabric only when the elements are upwardly urged.
