Abstract

<FORM:1084996/C2/1> Novel compounds of the Formula I, wherein X represents an ethylene or ethylene radical, each of R1 and R2 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a C1- 7 alkyl group and R3 represents (a) a group of the formula -A-B, wherein A represent a C1- 7 alkylene radical and B represents a C1- 7 alkylamino, di-(C1- 7 alkyl) amino, piperidino, pyrrolidino, morpholino or thiamorpholino radical or (b) a group of the Formula II (wherein R4 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1- 7 alkyl group and n represents 1 or 2), or (c) a saturated bicyclic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic radical of less than 12 carbon atoms, optionally carrying a C1- 7 alkyl or aryl-C1- 7 alkyl substituent, and non-toxic acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting in an inert solvent under esterification conditions an acid of the Formula III or a reactive functional derivative thereof with an alcohol of the formula R3OH or by reacting in an inert solvent a salt of said acid with a reactive-functional derivative of said alcohol, and, if desired, converting a resultant product into a non-toxic acid addition salt thereof. Therapeutic compositions with cardiac regulatory properties in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration comprise compounds of the Formula I or non-toxic acid addition salts thereof in association with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
