Abstract

1,084,543. Vacuum switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 30, 1964 [May 14, 1963], No. 19111/63. Heading H2B. A vacuum switch is connected between, and in series with, a pair of isolating switches, the three switches being enclosed in a metal tank containing an insulating fluid, each isolating switch consisting of a movable contact (7) co-operating with one or more fixed contacts (4, 6 or 20, 21), (Figs. 1 and 3 respectively, not shown), supported by an insulating bushing (1, 23) which carries a conductor through the metal tank. The fixed contacts may be mounted within an insulating shroud (5) attached to the bushings or within the bushing itself (Fig. 2, not shown). The vacuum switch (not shown) may be operated by compressing the insulating fluid in the tank.
