Abstract

1081479 Winding fabrics; textile treatment apparatus D DUPUIS & CO 1 Sept 1965 [1 Sept 1964] 37331/65 Index B8M 2H M2E M2K Apparatus for spirally winding a fabric 2 comprising a winding spider 1 having radial arms 13 each carrying a row of hooks 14 for the suspension therefrom of the fabric 2, the hooks 14 of each row being relatively spaced with their points projecting to the outside, is characterized in that the hooks 14 are movable substantially axially of the spider 1 and are held against the arms 13 by springs 15 and in that means 16 is provided to advance the hooks 14 from this position for the suspension therefrom of the fabric 2 as it passes the hooks 14. The fabric 2 passes from a beam 3 over bowls 5 set at consecutively steeper angles to turn the fabric from the horizontal to the vertical. The spider 1 comprises a base 10 having wheels 7 to enable it to be positioned in a frame 6. A fixed stop 8 and a movable stop 9 permit the exact positioning of the spider. A roller 12 is rotatably mounted about a shaft 11 secured to the base 10 and has the arms 13 rigidly secured thereto to make an angle of slightly more than 90 degrees therewith. A presser finger 16 is threaded on a spindle 17 rotatable by a motor 19 through bevel gears 18. The motor 19 simultaneously rotates the spider 1 through a coupling friction wheel 20. The motor 19, the spindle 17, the finger 16 and the bevels 18 are hingeably raisable on the frame 6 to enable the spider 1 to be inserted therein or removed therefrom. In operation, upon rotation of the spindle 17 and the spider 1, the finger 16 traverses the spindle 17 from the inside to the outside of the spider to consecutively depress each hook 14 to define a spiral path to allow the fabric 2 to be automatically gripped and suspended from the hooks 14. A limit switch 21, Fig.2 (not shown), stops the motor 19 when the spider 1 is filled. After raising the motor 19 and the spindle 17, the motor 19 is automatically reversed to return the finger 16, a limit switch 22, Fig.2, being provided to re-stop the motor 19. The full spider is withdrawn from the frame 6 and taken to dyeing or steaming apparatus. After treating, the spider 1 is relocated in the frame 6 and the fabric 2 is rewound on the beam 3 drivable by a motor 23, Fig.2.
