Abstract

1,081,426. Road traffic signals on vehicles. T. H. SMITHIES. Aug. 17, 1965 [Aug. 17, 1964], No. 33443/64. Heading G4Q. Energization of vehicle lights operates relay means which include dimmer resistances in series with the turn indicating and stop lights. In Fig. 1 (not shown), a terminal (10) is live when the vehicle lights are on and supplies current to two relays (S and S1) through respective resistances (R and R1). The armatures of the relays are thereby attracted to connect the turn switch (15) and brake switch (19) to the live terminal (10) via respective resistances (R and R1). If the lights are not on, or if a relay or a resistance fails, one or both armatures are in their other positions which connect the turn switch (15) and brake switch (19) directly to a second live terminal (11). In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the relays are replaced by semi-conductor devices.
