Abstract

1,080,088. Stackable containers. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. July 8, 1966 [July 9, 1965], No. 30781/66. Heading B8D. A cylindrical container, formed with a chime (17), Fig. 2, at its upper end, has an annular portion (16) at the junction of the side wall (11) and base of the container capable of accommodating the chime of a second similar container when the second container is inverted and placed side-by-side with the first. The annular portion may be in the form of a stepped chamber, Fig. 3, or a radiused edge, Fig. 4. The container, which is vertically stackable, may be impact-extruded from aluminium, or formed from copper, magnesium, steel, or synthetic plastics. A tear-tab may be incorporated in the lid, Fig. 1, for forming a pouring opening in the container.
