Abstract
1,076,268. Mercury switches. VAPOR CORPORATION. March 24, 1966 [Aug. 2, 1965], No. 13025/66. Heading H2B. Excessive temperature, at low level, of a liquid is sensed by a mercury contact thermometer 20 having contacts 28, 30 which are connected when the mercury expands. A heater coil 42 normally maintains a certain temperature at which the contacts are open, but the absence of liquid around the switch causes the switch to close because the heater cannot then dissipate some of its output into the liquid.
