Abstract

1,076,137. De-icing aircraft. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. Nov. 11, 1964 [Nov. 21, 1963], No. 45859/64. Heading B7W. In order to prevent the accretion of ice on the leading edge of a helicopter rotor blade, the leading edge is covered with a spanwiseextending strip of contrahesive material such as polyethylene or a glass fibre impregnated with " Teflon " (Trade Mark). The tape is blended into the profile of the blade on the upper surface and it forms a step on the lower surface aft of the stagnation point of the blade.
