Abstract

1,074,969. Resilient mountings. METZELER A.G. Aug. 5, 1964 [Aug. 5, 1963], No. 31774/64. Heading F2S. A spring element for compressive loads and made of rubber or like elastically resilient material comprising a hollow body 1 of circular cross-section with sheet metal plates 8, 9 vulcanized to its ends and a further metal plate 10 vulcanized into its middle portion is characterized in that the external contour is divided into two coned zones 12 tapering from each end towards the centre and a central zone 3 of cylindrical shape, the zones being divided by sharply defined angles 4, 5 and the hollow interior of the body having a contour 7 which conically converges towards the metal plate in the middle. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the external and internal contours of the several zones are convexly shaped, the respective convex external and internal contours springing substantially perpendicularly from the end plates 8a), (9a) and the intermediate plate 10. Several of such elements can be combined to form a compound element, a central support preventing lateral collapse of the column when it is compressed.
