Abstract
1,074,643. Filter presses. PROGRESS ENGINEERS Ltd. June 13, 1966 [June 12, 1965], No. 24904/65. Heading B1D. A filter press having slidable, suspended press plates 1 and end plates 3, 4, of which one or both are movable by hydraulic jacks 5, 6 (7), has means to maintain end plates 3, 4 parallel during press closure. In Fig. 1 jacks 5, 6 (7) are supplied by separate pumps 11, 12, 13 driven by a common electric motor 14 and each supply line has a pressure relief valve 15, 16, 17. In Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) the jacks are supplied by one pump, and a movable end plate carries three rubber blocks (32 . . 34) which engage the adjacent press plate and cause slight pivoting of the end plate (23) to maintain alignment. In the figures, end plates 3, 4 are both movable, tie rods 8, 9, (10) connecting with the piston rods of jacks 5, 6, (7), and each end plate in turn is moved insuccessive press closures. In a press with one fixed end plate, the jacks are mounted on the fixed plate and the rubber blocks on the movable plate only or on both end plates.
