Abstract

1,074,513. Screwdrivers. GENERAL AMERICAN TRANSPORTATION CORPORATION. Aug. 18, 1964 [Aug. 21, 1963], No. 33770/64. Heading B4W. [Also in Division F2] A tapered screwdriver bit has a chamfered edge 119 and two flutes 118 leaving a flat end face 117 comprising two generally quadrantshaped surfaces 16a joined at 116b. It is used with a screw (see Division F2) having a head recess whose base is of a shape complementary to the face 117. Edges 118L of the bit each drive against a face of the screw recess parallel to the screw axis when the screw is driven in but when the bit is reversely driven edges 118T ride up cam surfaces of the screw head recess and the bit is driven out so that the screw cannot be removed.
