Abstract

Phenylephrine propionate monohydrate is prepared by contacting a solution of phenylephrine propionate in an organic liquid with water.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise phenylephrine propionate monohydrate in association with a solid diluent or carrier. The compositions may also contain other active ingredients, e.g. analgesics (e.g. aspirin, phenacetin, salicylamide or aluminium aspirin), antipyretics, antitussives, antihistamines or antibacterial agents (e.g. amyl-m-cersol, 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol or cetylpyridinium chloride).
