Abstract

1,073,391. Cables. HACKETHAL-DRAHTUND KABEL-WERKE A.G. Jan. 21, 1965 [Jan. 25, 1964], No. 2698/65. Heading H1A. In single or multi-core cables of the type having a concentric earth conductor with a periodically reversing lay arranged within an electrically conductive sheath, the earth conductor is bedded on or in a layer of semi-conducting material which holds it in place on the cable core. The interstices between the cores can be filled with the semi-conducting layer or the cores can be coated with an insulating film, e.g. a polyterephthalic acid ester or polypropylene. The semi-conducting layer may be an elastomer with an addition of up to 50% of lampblack. Alternatively the layer may be in the form of strips of non-vulcanized rubber with addition of lampblack or soft foils of conductive synthetic plastics material.
