Abstract
1,073,362. Tensiometers. E. C. PAYTER & CO. Ltd. Sept. 22, 1965 [Sept. 22, 1964], No.38519/64. Heading G1W. In a tensiometer for measuring the tension in a cable 12 the cable is held between hooks 13, 15 mounted by spaced plates 10, 11 forming a first set of abutments, and a saddle 17 forming a second abutment system, the saddle 17 being mounted on a pivoted lever 18. The lever system is loaded by a spring 27 to displace the saddle 17 towards and beyond a line joining the hooks 13, 15, a pointer 25 being provided which is movable across a scale 26 proportional to the tension in the rope.
