Abstract

1,073,306. Building frameworks. RIGID FRAME CONSTRUCTION Ltd. Feb. 17, 1964 [Feb. 19, 1963], No. 15350/65. Divided out of 1,073,303. Heading E1W. Each of two or more storeys of a building framework comprises vertical pillar units a at each corner and cross members e extending between, supported by and bolted to adjacent pillar units a, the cross members e of each lower storey supporting in turn and each being bolted to the pillar units of the next higher storey, the framework elements together making up a series of complete interconnected rectangles extending throughout the structure in both vertical and horizontal planes. Each cross member may have a composite construction of preferably wood chords 14 and a rectangularly corrugated web 12 as disclosed in Specification 1,011,093 or as described and claimed in Specification 1,011,092. The pillar units a each comprise at least two interconnected limbs 4 extending in divergent planes and incorporate the construction forming the subject matter of Specification 1,073,304. At the tops of the upper storey pillar units a cross members e', e", similar to the cross members c are provided, the members e" being of reduced height to accommodate ceiling joists f. The roof rafters g may be supported by a purlin h which is of a form described and claimed in Specification 1,073,305.
