Abstract

1,073,113. Packaging apparatus. J. H. YERKEY. June 17, 1965 [Dec. 15, 1964]; No. 25616/65; Heading B8C. A rolled carpet etc. is encased in a slip-over wrapper by placing it in a tube 32 about which a tubular wrapper 18 has been drawn from a roll (42), Fig. 1 (not shown), via guide means (22) and the tube head assembly 38; the tube 52 having a notch 86 for permitting the wrappel to be held against the article whereby simultaneous manual withdrawal of the article and wrapper from the tube may be effected. The tubular wrapper is then cut, and the ends tucked in, tied, or heat sealed. The head assembly 38 is pivotably mounted on a frame (36), Fig. 1, and comprises wings 59 which distend the tubular wrapper, and rollers 51, 54 mounted inside the wrapper on member 56, the member being retained in position by rollers 74, 76 and 78 mounted outside the wrapper, which rollers capture the rollers 51, 54, through the tubular wrapper.
