Abstract
1,046,732. Stands, S. P. SMYTH and W. H. SMYTH, [trading as E.P.C. ECONOMY POLYTHENE CO. (FINCHLEY) and L. J. DAWKIN]. July 17, 1964 [April 17, 1963], No. 15203/63. Heading A4H. [Also in Division B8] A rod 14 (Fig. 1), slidable in a fixed tubular column 12, has a hook 16 which a garment may be hung while it is being packaged in a bag. The rod may be pulled to an upper position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1 where it is held by a spring biased detent 20 (Fig. 4, not shown) engaging an adjustable collar 36 on the rod. The detent is released by a treadle 26 (Fig. 1) acting through a release rod 34 (Fig. 4, not shown) to permit the rod 14 to fall under gravity. A resilient block 32 (Fig. 1) deadens the fall.
