Abstract
1,072,913. Feeding sheets. WAITE & SAVILLE Ltd. Feb. 24, 1964 [Nov. 24, 1962], No. 44545/62. Heading B6B. Apparatus facilitating sheet feeding and registration includes a feed table and one or more nozzles mounted in the feed table, each nozzle being connected to a source of suction and compressed air simultaneously, so that the combined effect of the suction and compressed air acts to hold down a sheet and yet permit the sheet to be moved freely on the plate for feeding and registration relative to front and side lays of the apparatus. The underside of a feed table 1 has a block 3 secured to it, adjacent the front edge. Bores 4 in the table and block receive nozzles 10. The upper ends of the bores 4 are of larger diameter than the nozzles, to provide an annular chamber 14. The latter communicates, via a passage 5 in the block 3, with a source of compressed air. The nozzle has tangential inlets 15 extending into the chamber 14. The interior of the nozzle communicates via an opening 12 and passage 6 in the block 3, with a source of suction.
