Abstract
1,072,465. Turning inside out. T. SPENCER. May 4, 1966 [May 5, 1965], No. 18870/65. Addition to 967,285. Heading D1X. Apparatus for turning glove fingers inside out comprises a plurality of tubes and a corresponding number of plungers movable relatively to the, tube by pneumatic or hydraulic pressure. The tubes are provided with pressure-absorbing means arranged to be compressed by movement of the plungers into the tubes. As shown, tubes 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d, corresponding to the four fingers of a glove, are mounted on a base 2. Each tube contains a compression spring 4 supporting a pad 5 adjacent the open end of the tube. Aligned with the tubes are respective plungers 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, each of which is slidably received in a housing A1 rigid with a bar 8, and is biased outwardly by a compression spring C positioned in the housing. Bar 8 is connected to a bar 16 by two rods 15 slidable in a frame 12 mounted on base 2. A pneumatic cylinder 11, rigid with frame 12, contains a piston 10 connected by a. piston rod 9 to bar 8. Compressed air admitted to ports 21 and 22 moves the plungers respectively toward and away from the tubes. A screw-threaded spindle 19, rigid with frame 12, passes loosely through bar 16 and carries nuts 17, 18 positioned one on each side of bar 16 for limiting the movements of piston 10. A plunger moves into its associated tube against the bias of spring 4 until complete turning of a finger has been effected. The plunger then remains stationary to compress its associated spring C during the remainder of the movement of piston 10.
