Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/1> wherein n is 1 or 2 and R is a hydrogen atom or a C1- 9 alkyl, allyl, propargyl or benzyl group, and processes for their preparation comprising (a) cyclizing a compound of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/2> in which X is chlorine or bromine, to obtain a compound of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/3> and, if desired, reacting this compound with an appropriate alkylating, alkenylating, alkynylating or benzylating agent, or (b) reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/4> wherein R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1- 9 alkyl group, with a nitrating agent, e.g. a mixture of fuming nitric acid and sulphuric acid. Compounds of the Formula IX are prepared by reacting 2-aminothiazole with an isocyanate of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/5> wherein X represents a chlorine or a bromine atom, to form a 2-thiazolylurea compound of the formula <FORM:1070675/C2/6> cyclizing this compound and, if desired, alkylating the resulting cyclized product.
