Abstract
1,069,606. Centrifugal separator. ALFALAVAL A.B. Oct. 14, 1965 [Oct. 14, 1964], No. 43664/65. Heading B2P. In an oil cleaner for i.c. engine comprising a cyclone-centrifuge assembly, the narrow end of the cyclone 4 extends towards one end of the centrifuge rotor 3 and the outlet at the narrow end of the cyclone opens into an axial inlet in that rotor end. The cyclone 4 has a tangential inlet 5 through which oil to be cleaned is pumped and an outlet 6, 7 for cleaned oil. The cyclone and the centrifuge rotor 3 are mounted in a common casing having parts 1,2 clamped together by a tie rod 9. For cleaning the rotor, the nut 11 on the tie rod is undone and the casing port 1 and the rotor 3 are lifted upwardly. A tube 15 clamped on the upper narrow end of the cyclone provides an annular passage 16 for sludge-containing oil from the cyclone, this oil being fed into the centrifuge rotor through holes 17 in the tube 15. Cleaned oil is discharge from the rotor via tubes 20 embedded in the rotor bottom and into which the oil passes through holes 24, the oil passing from the tubes via nozzles 23 into the interior of the casing from which it is removed via an outlet 8. The nozzles were to drive the rotor 3 by the reaction action of the oil jets.
