Abstract
366,926. Centrifugal gas cleaners. TRIGGS, W. W., 5'7, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Elektriska Svetsnings Aktiebolaget; Gothenburg, Sweden.) Aug. 7, 1930, No. 23663. [Class 23.] Apparatus for separating solid or liquid impurities from a gaseous medium comprises a separating chamber consisting of a cylindrical part 10 and a conical part 11, each communicating through a slot 15, 16, with a collecting chamber 17 formed at its lower end with a discharge opening 18 adapted to be hermetically sealed during operation. The cylindrical part 10 is formed with a tangential inlet 12 and carries an outlet pipe 13 for the purified gas, this pipe extending approximately to the junction of the parts 10, 11; the latter is provided with a closable cleaning aperture 14. In operation, branch currents from the main helically moving stream pass, due to high angular velocity, through the front part of slot 15 and the slot 16 to the collecting chamber 17 in which the impurities are deposited, the purified gas returning to the main stream at its point of lowest angular velocity, i.e. at a zone adjacent the junction of the slots 15, 16.
