A wood wool slab for flooring or roofing is of channel or arched, Fig. 3 (not shown), cross-section providing flanges or legs 10, 11 which are reinforced by embracing metal channels 19. each channel 19 having a flange 24 contacting the inner face of a leg and a lip 22 engaging a slot in the slab. Each slab may enclose heating or other service pipes. Adjacent slabs may be interconnected by members fitting over the flanges 24 and may support a suspended ceiling.
