Abstract
Organic high molecular weight polymers are rendered resistant to electrostatic charge by incorporation of a substituted amino-acid amide of formula <FORM:1067143/C3/1> where x is 1 or 2, R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical which may be substituted by aryl, carboxyl or esterified carboxyl radicals, R2 is H or CH3, R3 is a C2- 26 alkyl radical, and R1 and R3 may also contain hydroxy and alkoxy radicals. The polymer may be polyethylene (high or low pressure), polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile, a polyamide, a polyethylene-glycol-terephthalate, a polycarbonate, a polyacetate, a polyurethane or an epoxide resin. 0.1-7% of the antistatic agent may be used and the agent may be alanine-N-dodecyl amide, <FORM:1067143/C3/2> phenyl-alanine-N-methyl-N-dodecyl-amide, <FORM:1067143/C3/3> 2 - amino - 4 - ethoxycarbonyl - N - methyl - N -stearyl-butanamid <FORM:1067143/C3/4> lysine - N - methyl - N - stearyl amide <FORM:1067143/C3/5> and/or 4 - amino - butyric acid - N - stearyl - amide <FORM:1067143/C3/6>
