Abstract

A composition, particularly for caulking, comprises a blend of a butyl rubber, a petroleum derived wax and a mineral filler. The butyl rubber may be depolymerized and the wax petrolatum, while plasticizers may also be present. There may also be present a solvent or a mixture of solvents preferably in major proportion in which case the compositions may be self-sealing adhesives. White spirit is a specified solvent and process oil the plastizicer, while hydrated silica, clay and whiting are specified fillers.
