Abstract

A metal polish comprising a suspension of an abrasive in a liquid or soft solid medium is characterized in that there is incorporated in the composition a minor amount of benzotriazole or an alkylated benzotriazole, which serves to inhibit tarnishing or corrosion. The polish is preferably free of ammonia. The composition may either be one which, after application to the surface, dries to a fine non-adherent powder, or a detergent may be employed as the suspending medium such that the composition may be removed from the surface after polishing by washing.
