Abstract

1,065,222. Safes and strongrooms; miscellaneous releasable fastenings; safe door operating mechanisms. QUINTOLE Ltd. Dec. 13, 1965 [Jan. 5, 1964], No. 352/65. Headings E1A, E2A and E2M. A safe or strongroom has a wall or a part thereof formed by spaced bars 2, 3 of which the former bars 2 are embedded in the concrete roof and floor 4, 5 whilst the latter bars 3 are displaceable to permit a person to enter the safe, displacement being effected by means controlled by a time-responsive mechanism 6 inaccessible to a person outside the safe. The member 6 is adapted to release a locking plate 10 and actuate the rods 3 through rack-andpinion mechanism 8, 9. The safe may incorporate one or more safe-cabinets or strong boxes 11 protected by baffles 12. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the bars 3 are adapted to be displaced sideways. The bars may incorporate an alarm system and be made of composite material for details of which the Specification and Figs. 8, 9 and 10 (not shown) should be referred to.
